Imtech: 35 million euro high-tech order for Airbus in China

Gouda / Hamburg, 30 October 2007, The Netherlands - Imtech N.V. (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has been commissioned by Airbus to implement the technological infrastructure in a new, high-tech painting plant that the aircraft manufacturer is building near Beijing. This order represents a value of about 35 million euro. Airbus is working with the Chinese company Tianjin Zhongtian Aviation Industry Investment to build a new factory for the production of the Airbus 320 series. The new complex is located in the Binhai industrial zone, close to the city of Tianjin and not far from the Chinese capital of Beijing. The first aircrafts are expected in 2009 and dozens of planes per year will be produced here from 2011 onwards. Imtech will be responsible for the technological infrastructure in the final assembly hangar and a high-tech painting plant in which innovative technology will produce a preconditioned air current specially designed to fit the shape of the planes. These unique mega technical facilities make it possible for the special aircraft paint used on the Airbus planes to dry quickly. To begin with, four planes per month can be delivered. The order will be carried out by Imtech Deutschland and is a follow-up order of the same technological solutions implemented in more or less similar painting plants at Airbus in Hamburg in 2003 and 2006. Using Imtech's unique solutions, almost 100 planes per year are painted at the German location. The Imtech Deutschland R&D centre played an important role in the development of this innovative solution. The experience already gained makes it possible for Imtech to produce the ready-to-use technological infrastructure as pre-fabricated components in Germany and then export these to China.
