Wienerberger acquires Salzburger Ziegelwerk

- Acquisition of Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. - Strengthening of market position in western region of Austria Vienna, November 23, 2007 - Wienerberger Ziegelindustrie GmbH, the Austrian operating subsidiary of Wienerberger AG, the world's largest producer of bricks and the number two in clay roof tiles in Europe, will acquire Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. (SZW) as of December 1, 2007. This company operates a hollow brick plant in Oberndorf, roughly 15 km north of Salzburg, with an annual production capacity of 60 million NF (= standard format for bricks). During the 2006/2007 financial year, Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. generated revenues of approx. ¤ 4.7 million with 22 employees. The parties have agreed not to reveal any information on the price of this transaction. Acquisition as part of profitable growth strategy "The acquisition of Salzburger Ziegelwerk GmbH & Co. will allow us to strengthen our market position in the western region of Austria and improve the earning power of our subsidiary.
