Wärtsilä appoints Atte Palomäki Group Vice President, Corporate
Communications and a member of Board of Management

Mr Atte Palomäki (42) M.Sc. (pol.) has been appointed Group Vice
President, Corporate Communications, as of March 1, 2008. In this new
position Mr. Palomäki becomes a member of the Wärtsilä Board of
Management and reports to Mr Ole Johansson, President and CEO. With
this appointment Wärtsilä aims to integrate its global corporate
communications, brand management, marketing communications and
investor relations.
"Coming from the key position of Group Chief Press Officer for Nordea
Bank, and having made an extensive career in journalism both in
broadcast and print media Atte Palomäki brings in-depth experience
and knowledge of strategic communications. With this appointment
Wärtsilä will add more weight to communication as a key area of the
