PÖYRY AWARDED PLANNING SERVICES FOR REHABILITATION OF THE LONGEST
TWIN TUBE MOTORWAY TUNNEL IN SWITZERLAND
Pöyry has been awarded the design services contract for the
rehabilitation of the Seelisberg tunnel by the Swiss Federal Roads
Office (ASTRA/FEDRO). Located near Lucerne the 9.2 km long Seelisberg
tunnel is the longest twin tube motorway tunnel in Switzerland. The
objective of the rehabilitation is to guarantee continuous operation
of the tunnel for another 15 to 20 years without major interruptions.
Pöyry's share of the assignment amounts to nearly EUR 5 million and
includes an option for site supervision during the execution phase.
Pöyry is the leader of a consortium with two other partners. The
design phase will last from 2009 until 2014, and covers the
conceptual design, detailed design, approvals procedures, preparation
of tender documents and evaluation of bids, and preparation of
contract documents. The execution phase is planned to take place
between 2014 and 2018.
