Veidekke company to build new police station in Sandnes
Veidekke subsidiary Block Berge Bygg AS has been commissioned to build the new
police station in Sandnes. The client is West Coast Invest AS. The value of the
contract is NOK 75 million excluding VAT.
The police station will be located in the centre of Sandnes and have a total
area of 5,400 m² on four levels, including an underground car park. The building
will be well located, offering easy access for the public. It will be highly
visible and only a short distance from Sandnes' main traffic hubs. The building
will feature "green" and energy elements in the form of load-bearing concrete
facades and will be delivered as an energy-efficient building. The architects
are PLANK Arkitekter AS of Sandnes.
This project will be a turnkey contract. Building will commence in September
2010, with occupancy scheduled for autumn 2011.
The West Coast Invest and Block Berge Bygg project was chosen in competition
with four other candidates for the new police station. This will be Block Berge
Bygg's fourth building for the police. Block Berge Bygg has previously
constructed both building phases of Stavanger police headquarters and built
Haugesund police headquarters in partnership with Veidekke, Haugesund District.
"We are very pleased that our focus on a high level of industrialisation of the
building process, so as to give an efficient building period and good energy and
environmental solutions, has once again aided us in winning such a competition,"
says Yngvar Karlsen of Block Berge Bygg AS.
