Vaisala Signs a Significant Contract for Radiosondes

Vaisala Corporation Stock Exchange Release December 31, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. Vaisala has signed a contract to deliver radiosondes to its long-term customer. The deliveries start at the end of 2014 and will be completed during the summer of 2018. The value of the deal is EUR 11.0 million. Radiosondes are meteorological devices that are used to measure pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction in the upper atmosphere. The radiosonde reaches an altitude of up to 30 kilometers and transmits continuous data to ground equipment during its ascent. The ground-based sounding system processes the data and converts it into meteorological weather messages.
