's-Hertogenbosch, 25 October 2007 - Liffe, the derivatives market of
NYSE Euronext, announced that trading in options on Heijmans N.V.
shares will begin today. The options, which were introduced in
response to the shares' increased popularity and trading volumes,
will enhance the shares' appeal to investors that wish to hedge their
share positions in order to limit the risks associated with sharp
price fluctuations or, alternatively, benefit from such fluctuations.
Responding to the options listing, Guus Hoefsloot, chairman of the
board of directors of Heijmans, said, "The introduction of options on
Heijmans shares is an important milestone in Heijmans' development as
a listed company, and reflects the growing demand for Heijmans shares
since the company's IPO in 1993. Investors will be able to use the
options to manage risks better, which is completely in line with our
company policy."
Alan van Griethuysen, executive director of Liffe (NYSE Euronext),
commented, "Heijmans has now taken its rightful place among the group
of successful midcap classes. Heijmans is quintessentially an
international operating Dutch company, and we are delighted with the
introduction of Heijmans options."
The market for Heijmans options will be supported by the much-praised
full-screen central market model that was pioneered in Amsterdam and
has now also been introduced in Brussels, Paris and London. The model
gives investors access to competitive prices throughout the trading
day by ensuring a constant display of bid and offer prices, thus
improving on-screen liquidity, enhancing the quality of the market
and providing added value for customers.
