Imtech: 22 million euro order for technology in mega shopping centre
in London
Gouda, The Netherlands, 13 November 2007 - Imtech N.V. (technical
services provider in Europe) announces that it has been commissioned
by property owner and developer Westfield to implement all air and
climate solutions in the new mega shopping centre 'Westfield London'
to be developed in White City in London. The value of this contract
is about 22 million euro.
'Westfield London', with a size of 46 hectares and a net shop surface
of more than 150,000 m², will be the largest inner city
multifunctional shopping centre in Europe. Under a spectacular glass
roof construction, there will be space for 256 special shops and four
anchor stores (Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, Waitrose and Next). House
of Frazer and Barneys New York will probably rent space in this new
centre as well. A cinema complex with fourteen auditoria will also be
part of the complex, as will a three-storey 'high end retail' formula
for luxury stores, including Louis Vuitton. An indoor show atrium
called 'The Winter Gardens' makes it possible to organise exclusive
fashion shows, performances and events. In addition, the new centre
has 40 restaurants, including 15 top-quality establishments, a
special dining terrace and 12 high-tech 'dinner pods' with a mixture
of Western and Oriental cuisine. A spa and a health centre and
gymnasium, along with a car park for 4,500 cars, make the complex
complete. 'Westfield London' is very easy to reach, with its own new
underground, over ground and bus stations.
Imtech is responsible for the provision of the cooling plant, mall
and retail unit air conditioning and a sophisticated safety system
that comes into operation in the case of fire and rapidly extracts
harmful smoke from the complex. Imtech is also responsible for the
lead co-ordination of all the roof services including the provision
of access and maintenance walkways.
Imtech is also providing the domestic water systems throughout, all
of which will be constructed on high energy-saving principles. A
system of safe UV and carbon filters will be included in the kitchen
plant, as well as a state-of-the-art water drainage system that
continuously recycles itself.
