Regensburg, July 2, 2009 - GENEART AG is among the 50 most dynamic
companies in Bavaria and has been awarded "BAVARIA'S BEST 50" by the
Bavarian State Ministry for the third time. Since its market entry in
2000, GENEART evolved to the world market leader in synthetic gene
production. Furthermore, GENEART today is one of the leading experts
worldwide in the area of Synthetic Biology.
Driven by demand, GENEART has almost doubled its capacities each year
since its foundation by continuous process improvements and an
increasing level of automation. The number of employees has increased
during this corporate development to approximately 190.
A steady expansion of the application of gene synthesis in industry
and research, also in the field of Synthetic Biology, allowed GENEART
to increase its net sales on average by 58 % per annum over the last
four years. The Group's net sales have grown from EUR 2.5M in 2004 to
EUR 15.7M last year. GENEART expects its net sales for 2009 to reach
at least previous year's level despite a difficult economic
environment.
The Bavarian State Minister for Economy, Infrastructure, Transport
and Technology, Martin Zeil, honored the 50 most dynamic companies in
Munich last night. The prize has been awarded for the eighth time to
companies with particularly strong growth over the past years as
indicated by increasing both net sales and number of employees by
more than average.
"We will continue to strengthen our technology leadership in the
fields of Gene Synthesis and Synthetic Biology through our
investments in automation and miniaturization, and will further
increase our successful advancement as market leader. GENEART has a
good basic position to profit more than average from an improvement
of the market situation", said Daniel Seibert, CFO of GENEART AG.
