Imtech: orders worth 41 million euro for high-tech sustainable technology in Germany

Gouda - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has won orders worth 41 million euro in Germany for sustainable technological solutions. Power station in Stade: unique combination of natural gas, coal and hydrogen On the energy production site of Dow Chemical in Stade, close to Hamburg in Germany, Dow Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft and EnBW are jointly realizing a new power station. The goal for the new power station is to achieve a combustion efficiency of up to about 60%. This is a much higher combustion efficiency than the maximum of 46% achieved in modern coal-fired power stations. Innovative solutions will be used to achieve this ambitious target. The use of traditional coal will be reduced, in return the use of natural gas will be increased and the hydrogen generated as a by-product during chemical processing will be used optimally as an extra sustainable energy source. Sophisticated energy technology will make this possible. Imtech is responsible for the complete water steam-cycle. The assignment involves the sophisticated feed water-system, the steam pressure reduction and distribution and all technical connecting systems. This involves a complete total technical package from basic and detail engineering through to delivery, assembly, commissioning and testing of the systems. Sustainable technology for Victoria Versicherungen and historic botanic garden In a new 41,000 m² office building to be built for Victoria Versicherungen in Dusseldorf, Imtech will be responsible for all technical solutions, such as the innovative air and climate technology, electrical engineering, data facilities and fire safety. This technical infrastructure will be integrated in such a way that the building will be extremely energy-efficient. In addition, four integrated high-tech combined heat and power (CHP) systems (creation of energy by the combination of the generation of heat and electricity in a single process with a total capacity of almost 3,900 KW) will be designed and fitted on a modular basis, and in combination with an energy-efficient connection to the municipal power station, these will lead to an exceptionally high-level energy performance. Use of hydrogen cooling systems will reduce the amount of water used to a minimum. This high-tech cooling technology will also ensure that the cooling of the building's computer centre is largely energy-neutral. The building will accommodate more than 900 Victoria Versicherungen employees and will be completed in 2010. Imtech is also responsible for the sustainable technology for the renovation of the 'Gesellschaftshaus', the historic 9,500 m² main building of the Palmengarten in Frankfurt. This botanic garden dates from about 1870 and has a surface area of 29 hectares in total, where an unique collection of tropical and subtropical plants can be seen. The Palmengarten is Germany's largest botanic garden. Here, too, Imtech will be responsible for all technical solutions and will integrate them in such a way that the building will be sustainable and energy-efficient. The technological renovation will be completed in 2010. Energy: strong growth market for Imtech The German energy market is a major growth market for Imtech.
