Atea, the number one supplier of IT infrastructure products and services in the
Nordic and Baltic region, continued to gain market share in the third quarter of
2012 and reported revenue growth of 9.0%.
In the third quarter of 2012, Atea reported revenue of MNOK 4,451, corresponding
to a growth of 9.0% in constant currency compared to the third quarter of 2011.
Software revenue increased by as much as 16.2% in constant currency, services
revenue increased by 12.8%, and hardware was up by 6.3%.
EBITDA in Q3 2012 ended at MNOK 157.5, up 5.0% from the third quarter last year.
The increase in EBITDA was driven by higher revenue and better gross margin in
the services segment.
The uncertain macroeconomic environment in Europe continued to impact the Nordic
IT infrastructure market in Q3 2012. The tougher market conditions mean
increased price pressure, particularly in the product segment. "We have
continued our aggressive approach to the market in Q3 and I am pleased to see
that our revenue has grown at more than double the market rate. This aggressive
approach had a negative impact on product margins in this quarter, but is
fuelling future growth in the more profitable services segment," says Claus
Hougesen, CEO of Atea.
In Q3 2012, Atea announced the acquisitions of Total Storage Solutions AS in
Norway. Total Storage Solutions specializes in data storage and backup solutions
and will strengthen Atea's focus on data storage and backup solutions in
general, and within IBM technologies in particular.
In November 2011, Atea announced its 'Together Towards the Top' strategy, which
sets the stage for the company's development in the next four years. The goal is
to deliver revenue of NOK 30 billion and EBITDA of NOK 1.8 billion by 2015.
