Home Networking Gets Easier With the Asheridge / Teleste echoBox Wi-Fi Adapter Powered by Entropic's Leading MoCA Technology
LONDON and SAN DIEGO, Jan. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Asheridge
Communications, a member of the international Teleste Group specializing in
broadband video and data communication systems and services, has followed up on
the success of their first MoCA(®) (Multimedia over Coax Alliance)-based network
adapter, the echoBox, by introducing the new echoBox Wi-Fi home networking hub.
The new device integrates MoCA technology from Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world
leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, to seamlessly connect
all devices in the home over MoCA, the most reliable home entertainment
networking standard. The echoBox Wi-Fi will be on display next week at the
Integrated Systems Europe 2014 Show in Amsterdam at the RAI Convention Center,
February 4-6, 2014, at the Asheridge / Teleste stand (5-S112).
The echoBox Wi-Fi combines multiple home networking connections - Wi-Fi,
Ethernet and MoCA - into its slim design as well as adds a four-port Ethernet
hub and Wi-Fi hotspot to the standard single port MoCA adapter. As a media hub
offering Wi-Fi extension, consumers can connect all of their devices into one
area; get a local hotspot for maximum performance from tablets and mobile
devices; extend the range of the Wi-Fi network throughout the home and give
wired Ethernet connectivity to laptops, printers and the NAS drive for home
media streaming. By leveraging the power of Entropic's MoCA technology, the
echoBox Wi-Fi can ensure a stable home networking backbone for seamless whole-
home content distribution - no matter how many people are connected to the home
network, or what each device is doing on the network.
"The strength of Entropic's MoCA technology trumps that of competitive
technologies; offering tremendous benefits for any type of home network
installation," said Jason Dando, product manager at Teleste. "Our new Entropic-
based echoBox Wi-Fi adapter gives rise to a new type of device, where we no
longer need a direct connection between the main router / modem and the MoCA
network because our new adapter can even make a wireless bridge between the two
systems."
"Asheridge / Teleste continues to innovate when it comes to making home
networking easy," said Al Servati, vice president, Marketing, Entropic. "Our
MoCA technology embedded in the new echoBox Wi-Fi adapter enables consumers to
finally create a true and uninterrupted whole-home network to access all of
their high-quality multimedia content stored inside the home and in the cloud.
This unique product also allows for consumers to connect their new games
consoles, such as the PS4 and Xbox One, to the cloud using a wired coax
backbone."
Simple Plug-and Play Set-Up
The echoBox Wi-Fi adapter uses a simple plug-and-play connection to a standard
Ethernet router and the in-home coax network. It enables two or more units, with
a maximum of 16 devices, to be connected on the same coax network. Setting up
the Wi-Fi is also easy as consumers simply connect the device into the existing
router with the supplied Ethernet cable, configure the device by typing the
default address into a web browser on the consumer's laptop or tablet and follow
the onscreen wizard.
Availability
The echoBox Wi-Fi adapter is currently available from Asheridge / Teleste.
